The 75th Primetime Emmy Awards held on January 15th, 2024 was a delayed celebration that honored the many glorious faces that grace our television, computer and phone screens. Stars gathered on the red carpet (more like pewter grey carpet) and donned beautiful gowns and lovely ensembles. Hues of red were on trend for many of the attendees, with pops of green showing up here and there. The trend with construction consisted of satins, feathers, and quite a bit of sequins also, with a few of our celebrities standing out in garments full of sheen and luster. Again, much like many of the red carpets previously, women played with tailoring and incorporating more structured stylings into their looks whilst men found more ways to lean into their sartorial offerings utilizing unconventional craftsmanship or fabrications. With all that being said, let’s get into a few of my favorite looks that showed up on the red carpet shall we?

Taraji P. Henson looked regal in a stunning plum colored gown. THe Custom Atelier Versace look was the perfect for Ms. Henson, full of gathering details that cinched and contoured her body nicely. The cutout at the top of the chest is lovely and the thigh high split + train added to the luxurious vibe that she exuded when walking out onto the red carpet.

Laverne Cox looked every bit of sleek and in a 1989 vintage Mugler dress. The pointed construction of the bust, similar to that of wings on a butterfly, mixed with iridescent-like material is otherworldly. Add in the layers of paneling that stack along the sides of the bodice, hip and bottom of the gown and you have a look that can only be described as extraterrestrial, but in the best way possible. C’est magnifique!

Gucci was on the menu for actor Jessica Chastain, who looked every bit of effortless and chic. The bright lime green frock is simple at the top, sequined with a v-cut neckline that fits her well. Right around the pelvic area however, the gown starts to fall into strands of beaded fringe that continues to gradate as the looks nears the bottom. The movement in the fringe is entrancing, and the gown is every bit of lavish, extravagant and fun. It is for that reason that Ms. Chastain gets an A+ from me.

Next is Ayo Edebiri who looked absolutely stunning in a custom leather Louis Vuitton ankle length dress. Simple at the top, the strips of leather curve slightly outward in large pleats to form the voluminous skirt, forming a bell shape and giving the young starlet body while adding in a bit of intrigue as well. Again, it’s simple but stylish and fits her in all the right ways.

Niecy Nash exuded grace, confidence and sex appeal in a beautiful, form fitting Greta Constantine number. The black velvet gown hugged Ms. Nash perfectly, sculpting her body in an hourglass shape and showing just the right amount of cleavage. The dress stops right at the knee where the satin mermaid skirt juts out and falls perfectly to the floor, and the ensemble is finished with matching black velvet gloves that rouche at the top, adding an elegant touch.

Suki Waterhouse was a vision in a red Valentino gown that highlighted her growing bundle of joy in a lovely way. The bright gown, which ties at the torso similar to that of an apron, falls diagonally into pleated skirt with a small red bow that adorns the front of the frock. It’s a sweet look, and one that is able to showcase her baby bump while not taking away from the overall look either. If anything , I personally think the gown looks better WITH the baby bump.

Joy Sunday donned an elegant ensemble from Safiyaa to the award show as well. The off-white look is simple, with a shoulderless top that folds over the bust and ends at the thigh, while creating a simple train in the back from two strips of fabric. The look is completed with pants that flare slightly and hit the floor perfectly. Again, very chic and classy, with the train adding in just a bit of elegance to make an otherwise featureless look engaging.

Lastly, you have TS Madison in a Grecian inspired look from Riley Knoxx Couture. The iridescent pale yellow gown that falls into a soft pink and then pale purple is adorned with sequins at the waist that dissipate as the look nears the ground, with arms adornments that match the fabric. The look is completed with a jewel encrusted chest piece that gathers the fabric right above the bust, adding to goddess like nature of the look.

Below are a few other notable outfits from the red carpet, but let me know your thoughts on who you think turned it at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards!
