Casual clothing giant Gap has collaborated with Harlem’s Fashion Row to produce a 16-piece collection featuring designs and concepts from 6 black designers; A. Potts, who I’ve recently fallen in love with via Fashion Week; BruceGlen, a duo of twins that excels in utilization of color; KAPHILL, a luxe selection of womenswear designed by Krystal Phillips; N’Gai, the epitome of eye-catching mixed media and patterns created by Nicole King; and Richfresh, headed by designer Patrick Henry as a destination for premier athleisure wear.

The limited-edition collection, perfectly on time for Black History Month, captures everyday casualwear with twists and elements that elevate the pieces while staying true to each designer’s aesthetic and niche. Launched on February 14th, the collection boasts a range of styles from beautifully patterned hoodies to button-up shirts with a little extra ‘oomph’. The price ranges from $89 – $129 with more of the detailed pieces falling into the higher end of the range and the more simple shirts being less expensive.

Though there are definitely a few pieces that are calling my name, the selection as a whole makes it hard to truly settle on one or two garments as a fashionisto on a budget. BruceGlen’s Tie Front Button-Up was an immediate yes for me, as the extra sleeves are great for contouring and shaping the shirt itself however you want + it’s a weird and wacky take on a simple button-up. I also have heart eyes for the A. Potts Poncho Hoodie which, at this point in my life, would be a lovely addition to my wardrobe as I try to rebuild toward a more elevated style. But let me know your thoughts and if you plan to purchase anything from the collection! Follow the link listed below to learn more about the Gap x HFR collab or buy into it yourself.
